The most religious countries are the most violent and corrupt, and the least religious countries are least violent and corrupt. It does not mean causation -- it does not necessarily mean that religion causes the corruption and violence. It means that the dominant presence of religion in places like the Philippines, Venezuela, or Somalia does nothing or little to curb corruption and violence (contrary to the expectations of good and kind priests), and the dominant absence of religion in places like Denmark or Iceland does nothing or little to encourage or to increase corruption and violence (contrary to the expectations of bad and stupid priests).
